Carers
Forums
Carers Forums offer the opportunity for
carers to meet with other carers and those who provide services for them and
for the people they look after. The forums meet regularly and provide a
platform for up-to-date information and the airing of carers' views. Speakers
are invited from various organizations to give information on benefits and new
services.
Carers are encouraged to influence the
policy makers, to campaign for better benefits for themselves and for their
dependants, to work with the service-providers to meet the needs of all carers
and the people they care for.
The forums give you a chance to have your
say about issues that affect you. You can meet with members from statutory and
voluntary bodies who can support you. It gives you the opportunity to make your
views known to the service providers and you can also say how the forums should
be run.
Daytime meetings, with lunch provided, are
held throughout Leicestershire and in Leicester and Rutland. Meetings are
friendly and informal and provide an opportunity to meet like-minded carers.
For more information, or to be included on
the forum contact your local carer development worker. If you would like to
attend a forum but have difficulty with transport or a sitting service for the
person you care for, you carer development worker will do as much as possible
to help.
